Capitol Steps
Summer 2012 Season Announced with New Sunday Matinee!
Enjoy a hilarious evening of American political satire and song parodies with the nationally-acclaimed Capitol Steps returning to Cranwell this summer.
The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ("Don’t quit your day job!"), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of eighteen Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience.
Since they began in 1981, the Capitol Steps have recorded over 32 albums. Song titles from their latest album "Take the Money and Run for President" include:
Super Congress Debt Committee
If I Tax a Rich Man
Love Potion 9-9-9
Put Your Cans in the Hand
You Can’t Hide This Biden Guy
Help Me Fake It to the Right
…and more!
They’ve also been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, and can be heard 4 times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their "Politics Takes a Holiday" radio specials.
Convenient pre-show dining is available at our elegant Wyndhurst Restaurant in the Mansion or at Sloane’s Tavern with the option of outdoor terrace seating overlooking the golf course. In-theatre wine and beer is available before the show. After the show, we offer a late-dining menu until 11:00 in the Mansion, including a wide selection of International coffees and sumptuous desserts.
