Charitable MissionsCranwell Resort, Spa and Golf Club is proud to participate in and provide support to the following organizations:
Hillcrest Educational Centers is a private not-for-profit agency that provides a range of individualized and comprehensive clinical, psychological and special education services for children, adolescents and families in Berkshire County, MA and the Northeast. The students served by Hillcrest in nonresidential and residential programs have complex psychiatric, behavioral and/or developmental disorders, including autism, and a variety of high risk behaviors. Cranwell partners with Hillcrest Educational Centers and participates in their Holiday Wish Program for the children. We have been consistently able to provide gifts for approximately 40-45 children each year. Any employee can participate in the program and use their own resources to provide a gift.
Berkshire United Way has been a leader in providing community solutions in Berkshire County since 1924. Today, Berkshire United Way serves 26 communities and directly impacts more than 22,000 lives across the county through a diverse set of activities and services directed to improvements in education and employment - the keys to a good life. Cranwell partners with United Way to raise money throughout the year by giving employees the opportunity to donate through payroll deductions, employee cash calendars, and gift basket raffles. Cranwell has received the Pinnacle Award by successfully achieving campaign goals set by United Way, for example, through increasing campaign giving dollars over the previous year, increase of employee participation, and corporate dollar matching and/or in-kind gifts.
Every hour of every day, Elizabeth Freeman Center provides lifesaving, life renewing help to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and to their families. The center offers free and confidential counseling, shelter, legal advocacy, safety planning, teen dating violence prevention education, a 24/7 hotline, and much more. In 2013 the Spa at Cranwell partnered with Annie Selke Companies to sponsor a Swim-A-Thon over a three-week period to raise pledges based on the distances participants swam, walked or jogged in the water. Proceeds benefited the Elizabeth Freeman Center.
The Pittsfield Family YMCA’s mission is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. They fulfill this mission by strengthening our communities through three areas of focus: Youth Development: Nurturing the potential of every child and teen, Healthy Living: Improving the nation’s health and well-being, and Social Responsibility: Giving back and providing support to our neighbors.
With the efforts of so many and support of many more, over $10,000 was raised with the support of our friends here in the Berkshires and beyond. In July 2014, we brought back the Swim-A-Thon which raised an amazing $7,406. The special month-long event saw 99 pledges and 29 participants with the youngest being only seven years old. More recently, we held the first annual Cranwell Open Fall Classic golf tournament in September 2014. We hosted 54 players for a day of fall golf, food, and fun on our stunning 18-hole golf course where together we raised an additional $3,300 for the Pittsfield Family YMCA.
The Melanoma Foundation of New England (MFNE) was founded in 1999 by Mel and Marilyn Rubin in memory of their son Mark who lost his battle with the melanoma. MFNE’s mission is to reduce the incidence of melanoma in the New England region. We provide a variety of educational programs targeting the prevention and early detection of skin cancer and melanoma for both children and adults. MFNE also assists patients and their caregivers struggling with melanoma by offering support groups, educational programs, and Billy’s Buddies, a one-on-one patient advocacy and support program. These programs are all free.
Soldier On is a private nonprofit organization committed to ending veteran homelessness. Since 1994, the organization has been providing homeless veterans with transitional housing and supportive services. In 2010, Soldier On opened the first Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community, a permanent housing cooperative that provides formerly homeless veterans with safe, sustainable, affordable housing – transitioning them from homelessness to homeownership. This housing model will be replicated nationally as Soldier On continues to change the end of the story for homeless veterans throughout the country.
Cranwell donates services to help a variety of organizations raising money during fundraising events for their auctions or raffles. Many of these organizations relate to healthcare, education, human services, arts, culture and humanities, and community improvement to name a few. Other causes Cranwell has been involved in, in Berkshire County, were collecting prom dresses to provide to young adults with limited means; donating spa products to the Elizabeth Freeman Center; helping on-site with a Habitat for Humanity project; making gift baskets for causes related to breast cancer awareness and local public school fundraisers; as well as collecting cell phones and eye glasses to help families in need. Cranwell donates throughout the year, every year and is proud to be helping make a difference in a variety of special causes.
